Fun on the Lake

Something for everyone !

Mississippi Lake has great potential for a wide variety of activities.  View the sections below for information and guidance to make your visit safe and enjoyable.

Fishing

Mississippi Lake is in the Ontario Fishing Management Zone 18 (FMZ 18).

Here is a MAP and specific regulations in force in this zone.  View also general REGULATIONS at the MNR website.

Swimming

Mississippi Lakes's clean, clear water is ideal for a refreshing dip on hot summer days.  Unfortunately, there are no public beaches on the lake - the entire shoreline consists of private or commercial property.

If you have a boat, a common practice is to anchor in the middle of the lake where the water is deep enough and where other boat traffic passes at a safe distance.  Be careful out there while you are having fun.

If you don't have a boat but want to take a dip, Carleton Place has an excellent beach and park facility right on the river next to the Canoe Club, which you can access off Lake Avenue.  This is the same street that leads to Carleton Place's public boat ramp.

Hunting

Mississippi Lake is in the Ontario Wildlife Management Unit 64A (WMU 64A).

Here is a map of WMU 64A.  View also general REGULATIONS at the MNR website.
