Love Your Lake (LYL)

The Mississippi Lakes Association (MLA) was very excited to partner with Watersheds Canada to deliver this program to Mississippi Lake.   Love Your Lake is a shoreline assessment and stewardship program developed by Watersheds Canada and the Canadian Wildlife Federation. 

In Summer 2016, every shoreline property was assessed from the water at no cost to property owners, and shoreline property owners were able to obtain a private copy of their personalized shoreline property report.  The individual property reports contained recommendations and resources that helped shoreline property owners decide on how to improve or maintain their shoreline health and consequently improve the health of Mississippi Lake.

Prior to conducting the property assessments,  property owners were requested to complete a Values Survey.

In  addition to individual property reports, the MLA received a summary report for the entire lake, giving general statistics regarding proprty status without identifying any individual property.  View the Summary Report here.

This initiative provided a snapshot of the status of Mississippi Lake properties.  At same future date, it would be useful to conduct an update assessment to determine whether, or how much, the lake has improved since 2016.
